Dr. Allison B. Burkett

As a board certified General and Vascular (artery, vein, and circulation disease) surgeon I am to expose many unpleasant patients’ physical needs and human conditions. Wounds, blemishes, and scars were a natural part of my professional environment. These were visible signs of the body at work in stages of disease and of healing.

The world of aesthetics was nowhere in my plans. One could say I tripped and fell into this “project.” However, I have learned very well that there are no accidents in life. Flamingo Medical Spa developed out of my desire to provide complete care to my patients with vascular disease. After treating patients for their pains due to vein disease my patients were still profoundly bothered about their hyperpigmentation (dark areas on skin) and visible constellations of spider veins that their disease left behind. No other services were available for them in my practice. This limitation bothered me especially since the mission statement of my practice is “complete and compassionate care for the vascular patient.”

My desire to provide better treatment for patients with unsightly spider veins and hyperpigmentation led to the investment of a Laser Device. My treatment did not have to end after resolving the pain, swelling and sores. Laser and other energy devices extend the services I can provide to my patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their legs. Once educated on the power of light and other energy devices in the treatment of skin issues I was not able to ignore the potential. I had to meet the needs of the community of people who wanted to feel better about themselves. Laser devices was my introduction into the world of aesthetics and medical spa services.

Building confidence through promoting wellness and celebrating selfcare is a goal I have for myself and my neighbors. Confidence is beautiful. Dr. Burkett has practiced surgery since 2001. She was born in Jamaica and moved to New York City as a young girl. After completing her residency in General Surgery, she moved from NYC to Atlanta where she completed her Vascular Surgery Fellowship and became certified in Wound Care. Her medical practice has been focused on Vascular Surgery until Flamingo flew in. She is the mother of twins and now claims middle Georgia as her home. She enjoys laughter and dancing.
